Why Sacrifice?
The Aztecs practiced this wonderful ritual to please the sun deity, Huitzilopochtli. The Aztecs believed that without daily sacrifices the sun would STOP moving, ending all life on the planet. To show true devotion to the gods, the peoples of Mesoamerica were willing to sacrifice and be sacrificed to show gratitude, dedication, and love. To be scarified at the alter was sought to be the highest honor among the Aztecs.
How exactly does sacrifice work?
Parts of a successful sacrifice:
1) Sacrifice is brought up to the top of the pyramid where 4 assistants and 1 priest await their arrival
2) They are laid out upon a stone alter and held down by the 4 assistants, 2 for each arm and 2 for each leg
3) The Priest then takes a stone knife and makes an incision in the abdomen, large enough to rip the heart out
4) The beating heart is then ripped out of the body and given to the ruler to present to the gods
5) The corpse is then decapitated by the priest, who then throws the lifeless head down the stairs of the pyramid
6) After the head is collected, the rest of the body is thrown down in the same manner

"I know I'm supposed to be supportive and kind and what not, but I had THE BEST TIME watching countless Aztecs being violated. I mean, I even got a heart as a souvenir! I recommend this trip to anyone who likes blood. DAMN that was good!"
